Queen’s Tower
545 Queen Street, Brisbane QLD 4000
Through his position at the helm of longstanding engineering consultancy Property Development Systems, Wentworth Equities Executive Chairman Sameh Ibrahim played a pioneering role in the ambitious Queen’s Tower project at 545 Queen Street Brisbane – a proposed development encompassing a world-class design, luxury residences, premium short-term accommodation and a new shopping and dining precinct.
Working in tandem with global design and consulting firm Woods Bagot, the project sought to introduce sculptural architecture to create a distinctive identity and to reinvigorate and shape the precinct.
The proposed world-class design featured juxtaposed semi-circle forms which created slimline, curved and variable silhouettes. Queen’s Tower would have delivered 891 luxury residences, 100 serviced apartments, approximately 2,500m2 retail and commercial podium and basement parking for 853 cars and 752 bicycles, with an estimated total value of $2 billion.
Though the landscape at the time presented constraints that meant, ultimately, the development could not eventuate, this project was foundational for the team behind it in establishing an understanding of the local development landscape that has been integral in shaping the vision for future projects such as Hamilton Grove.
The experience was entirely cooperative, working with Woods Bagot and Brisbane City Council to further a shared interest for the betterment of Brisbane. The leading consultant teams behind this project have been long-standing partners of the Wentworth Equities team, with many of the same minds that worked on Queen’s Tower now playing key delivery roles for Brisbane’s much anticipated Hamilton Grove precinct.
